Summer in Savannah, Georgia is a magical time. The sun shines bright, the air is warm and balmy, and there's always something exciting to do. One of my favorite summer activities in Savannah is going on a riverboat cruise. First things first, let's talk about the weather. Summer in Savannah can be quite hot and humid, but don't let that deter you from visiting! The city's close proximity to the coast means that there's always a cool breeze blowing through, making it more bearable. Plus, the lush greenery and beautiful architecture provide plenty of shade to escape the sun's rays. Now onto the main event - the riverboat cruise. There are several options for riverboat cruises in Savannah, but my personal favorite is the Savannah Riverboat Cruises. These elegant paddlewheel boats offer a variety of cruises including lunch/dinner cruises, sightseeing cruises, and even moonlight cruises. Each cruise offers stunning views of the Savannah River and its surrounding scenery. The most popular cruise is the dinner cruise where you can enjoy a delicious meal while taking in the sights. The menu features southern-inspired dishes such as shrimp and grits, fried chicken, and collard greens. And for dessert? You can't go wrong with a classic peach cobbler or pecan pie. But it's not just about the food on these riverboat cruises. Along with your meal, you'll also be treated to live music from local musicians who will have you tapping your feet and swaying along to their tunes. And if dancing is more your style, there's plenty of room on deck to bust out some moves. As you sail down the river, you'll pass by some of Savannah's most iconic landmarks such as River Street, City Hall, and Old Fort Jackson. The knowledgeable tour guides will provide interesting facts and history about each location as you go by. One of the highlights of the cruise is getting an up-close view of the Talmadge Bridge. This impressive structure spans over the Savannah River and connects Georgia to South Carolina. As you pass under it, you can't help but feel small in comparison to its massive size. But perhaps the best part of the riverboat cruise is simply taking in the beauty of Savannah from a different perspective. The city's charm and southern hospitality are on full display as you glide along the tranquil waters. It's a great way to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In conclusion, summer time in Savannah, Georgia wouldn't be complete without a riverboat cruise. It's an experience that combines delicious food, live music, beautiful scenery, and a touch of history all in one package. So if you find yourself in this charming city during the summer months, make sure to add a riverboat cruise to your itinerary - you won't regret it!
